Running event in the Zittau Mountains Nature Park becomes part of the XTERRA Trail Run Marathon Series and is certified by the International Trail Running Association ITRA. The cooperative running event O-SEE Ultra Trail will have its third edition in 2021. After the event has already taken place for the first time in 2019 and in the following year 2020 with increasing popularity, the organizers expect a further increase in the number of participants in 2021.
The O-SEE Ultra Trail is organized in a cross-association cooperation. The name-giving association O-SEE Sport e.V., known as the organizer of the international cross triathlon O-SEE CHALLENGE and XTERRA Germany has taken the lead for the project. For 3 years, they have been working hand in hand with the athletics department of the Zittau club HSG Turbine, one of the most renowned sports clubs in the region. "That the O-SEE Ultra Trail still has potential was and is clear to all who know the characteristics of the scenic Zittau Mountains. Who know the makers of the event and who associate the term O-SEE with an upscale competition quality. And right: After two test runs in 2019 and 2020, the O-SEE Ultra Trail is about to experience higher levels in the 3rd year of its operation", says Dr. Klaus Schwager (Benno), chairman of the O-SEE Sports e.V. association.
Dr. Klaus Schwager names several strong reasons for this:
The very fact that the O-SEE Ultra Trail is now an event of the international XTERRA Trailrun Marathon Series launched in 2020.
Two new, additional distances (65 km and 15 km) have been created. This means that the O-SEE Ultra Trail has four challenging trail distances (65, 50, 25, 15 km). The offer is completed by the shorter distances (500 m - 7,6 km) of the Cross Run, which were created specially for the kids and lovers of the fast short tracks. A total of eight distances will be offered, so there is probably something for every runner.
All four ultra trail distances have been evaluated by the International Trail Association (ITRA) and are listed in the international trail race calendar and can be found on the websites www.tracedetrail.fr and www.itra.run/races.
The two long distances of 50k and 65k are now also certified in the ITRA evaluation and rated in the ITRA scoring (1-6). The 65k is rated with 3 ITRA points and the 50km with 2 ITRA points and therefore also worthy for all those who are chasing points worldwide during the trail run season.
The two distances 50k and 65k scored by the ITRA count as qualifying races for the Mont Blanc Ultratrail Marathon (UTMB ®), the Mecca par excellence of ambitious trail runners.
All cross races and the 15km distance of the Ultratrail will be scored in the SachsenEnergie Runners' Cup.
If the O-SEE Ultra Trail was still considered an insider tip among trail run insiders in recent years, the organizers are now happy about the international recognition of the event and the increased level of popularity. Nevertheless, as Dr. Klaus Schwager points out: "Not only these facts speak for the participation in one of the most spectacular trail runs in middle Germany. Participation is well worth for everyone.
We offer trail run in its most original form - over hidden paths, through narrow rocky canyons, up to the volcanic peaks of the highest hills of the small low mountain range, past mystical sandstone figures, mysterious castle ruins and painterly half-timbered houses typical of the region and and and... you can only find that here - at the O-SEE Ultra Trail - in the Zittau Mountains Nature Park on October 16, 2021." Registration starts on May 1, 2021: directly with the service provider for timekeeping Baer-Service www.baer-service.de/anmeldung/OSU or via the links on our website www.o-see-ultratrail.de
